2018 Bonfire Handicap and Guest Shoot

03 December 2018

This November, Dudley Rifle Club held it's second consecutive Annual Bonfire Handicap Shoot, along side a guest shoot for friends and family.

There was food, fireworks, festivities and of course competitions!

This was our second annual bonfire handicap shoot, where members were shooting for the Handicap Bench-rest Trophy.

Shot to the Macrae handicap formula, it certainly evens the playing field for all members of the club, shooting against your own average, as opposed to a straight shoot-out, where those "unbeatable" members might otherwise dominate.

The level of shooting was high, with the highest actual score of 249 out of 250 with 15 out of 25 X's (Ron Gough) - however, with the Handicap in play, this left him in 6th of 9 competitors.

Without further ado, in 3rd place, shooting a very respectable 246/250 with 14 X's (MacRae :- 250.2828), Catherine Gough.

In 2nd Place, shooting 243/250 with 4 X's (MacRae :- 250.3036), Stuart Gough.

In First Place, with a great improvement over her average, shooting 245/250 with 9 X's, Miss Kirsty Moore!

Congratulations to Kirsty, we hope she'll be back next year to defend her title, however, her average is bound to make it more difficult to win moving forwards!

As mentioned, we also had the Non-Members/Guest Competition in straight shootout style for those without averages - highest score takes it all...

Competition was fierce, and right at the top of the leaderboard, the scores were close!

The results of this competition were as follows:

In 3rd Place, Shooting 244 with 8 X's, Sam Harvey!

Marginally knocking Sam off 2nd place, with only 1 X, Shooting 244 with 9 X's, Miss Olivia Beech!

and...

In 1st Place, Shooting 245/250 with 3 X's, Jennifer Wilkes! Congratulations Jennifer!

Thank you to everyone that turned up, brought fireworks, shot, helped and generally made the day enjoyable!

We've learned some lessons for next year with regards to timing, and we hope next year it will be bigger and better! We hope you'll join us!

Ste Gough,
Dudley Rifle Club Chairman
