Pistol Calibre Carbine

With the banning of pistols under the terms of the Firearms Amendment Act 1997 target shooting sports looked to find a suitable alternative. After a short while Pistol Calibre Carbines were adopted.

These originally were only in the format of the "western style" under lever rifles in pistol calibres such .357spl/mag and .44spl/mag but, later, lightweight bolt-action rifles became more readily available via the USA Along with the introduction of rifles such as the 9mm Lever Release (By such companies as SGC).

These are shot competitively under the "banner" of gallery rifle. Unfortunately, Dudley Rifle Club is not certified for such pistol calibre rifles however, note, other local ranges based at Stourbridge, Stourport on Severn & Wednesbury (NOTE: A commercial range) cater for such calibres.

The National Rifle Association (NRA), as mentioned previously, also organise competitions for such rifles via events such as the Phoenix meeting held in May.
